Through experience comes skill and knowledge - a powerful combination and an excellent tool for an entertainer. A disc jockey’s experience is quite important and says a lot about how he handles your special event. Drew Miller has over 20 years experience as a professional disc jockey, but his interest in music goes much further back.

Drew’s passion for music began at the age of five when he received his first record player. He began building what would become an incredible record collection. During high school he showed an interest in playing music and took up the drums. Through a broadcasting class in college Drew became an intern at the old KPRI radio station where he helped produce an on air show for about a year. This sparked a deep interest in becoming a DJ. Next, Drew attended and graduated from the Orange County Broadcast Workshop where he had his own weekly radio show.

After graduating from radio school Drew came back to San Diego and began a 12-year career as a nightclub disc jockey. Drew has spun at some of San Diego’s hottest night spots such as Belmont’s, Roxy West, The Rodeo, Carlos Murphy’s, Club Diego’s, and a 6 1/2 year run at Moose McGillycuddy’s in Pacific Beach. During this time Drew acquired skill in “reading” a crowd and getting dancers on the floor and keeping them there through excellent music programming and club DJ technique.

In 1989 while still working clubs, Drew started Unity Sounds Mobile Music and has come to specialize in weddings and corporate events. He is pleased to say he is the only DJ for Unity Sounds and offers his clients the highest quality disc jockey entertainment. In 1994 Drew left the night clubs to focus on and give 100% of his attention to Unity Sounds.

Drew is a student of Afro-Latin hand drumming. Over the last 10 years this study has brought him close to World Music; especially Afro-Latin, Afro-Caribbean, African, and Hawaiian music and culture. Unity Sounds takes pride in offering these music styles and more! Wherever Drew travels he learns about the music and culture of that particular place and always brings music back home to add to the Unity Sounds library.

In 2000 Drew became involved with local public radio at KSDS Jazz 88 and is a volunteer on air personality. Currently you can catch him spinning the full spectrum of jazz every Monday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. live. In addition, he records a specialty show he created called “The Second Line Parade” which airs Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. The show features the many musical styles of New Orleans and Louisiana. As a volunteer Drew enjoys giving a little something back to the community.
